Rapid Response: Supporting evacuated and stranded Gazan families in Egypt
As part of our Rapid Response for Gaza, INARA has established an office and an educational center in Egypt to support vulnerable, stranded, and evacuated Gazans. Our work focuses on children injured in the conflict and the families who care for them.
Medical and Surgical Interventions
We provide life-altering and life-saving surgeries and treatment for children, along with rehabilitative care. Follow-up support ensures evacuated children receive ongoing medical care and health monitoring. This aids their full recovery from conflict-related injuries and reduces the risk of complications.
Mental Health and Psychosocial Support
We offer mental health and psychosocial support to evacuated Gazan children and their caregivers, helping them cope with the injuries and trauma of war. Children take part in tailored sessions and creative forms of art, while caregivers receive support to maintain their own well-being.
Education in Emergencies and Informal Education
We provide safe, inclusive learning environments where evacuee children can continue their education despite the disruption of conflict. Through tailored lessons and activities, children gain new knowledge and skills that support their future academic success. Livelihood empowerment helps restore stability and prospects for families.
Housing and Accommodation
We provide temporary housing support to medical evacuee families until their treatment is complete and a return to Gaza becomes feasible. This eases the burden of inadequate and unsafe living conditions, giving families a stable, secure place to focus on recovery.
Cash Assistance
To ease immediate financial hardship, we provide a monthly stipend to evacuee families to help cover basic needs, supporting their stability and security during their temporary stay in Egypt.
Food and Non-Food Assistance
We support Gazan families with food parcels, clothing, and essential items. For female-headed households among Palestinian evacuees, this includes hygiene kits, baby formula, and diapers. Our food parcels also reach economically vulnerable Egyptian host communities, improving food security, alleviating hunger, and building resilience amid ongoing socio-economic challenges.
We are also piloting a new project in Egypt that provides psychosocial support to refugees who have fled the war in Sudan.

Since April 2023, more than 1.5 million Sudanese people have fled to Egypt, many having lost their homes and loved ones along the way.
Our pilot builds on INARA’s experience delivering mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) across our areas of work, including Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Türkiye, Gaza and Afghanistan. By testing this approach with Sudanese refugee communities, we aim to learn what works best and build a model that can reach more families.
