Little Mia: A journey towards recovery
During the war in Syria, the neighborhood where Mia’s family was living was being bombed. Having no other choice, Mia’s mother cradled her in her arms and started to run. While looking for shelter amidst the chaos, she tripped and fell with her baby still in her arms. As they both seemed fine, the mother continued running.
As Mia grew older, her mother started to notice a problem with her shoulder: It wasn’t growing properly, and she was in pain. She was always hunching down and wasn’t able to move with ease or straighten her back.
They discovered that her shoulder was broken during that unfortunate event and as a result, it couldn’t grow properly.
Her mother was looking for an organization to help her war wounded daughter, and came across INARA. We immediately took Mia for an assessment with doctors at our partner medical facility who examined her and set out a plan for her recovery.
Mia underwent a successful surgery for her shoulder and back at our partner medical facility in Beirut. With the physiotherapy and the follow ups she is doing much better and will soon fully recover!
