Teaching displaced children about boundaries and body safety is vital, especially as many lose the familiar norms that once guided them in Gaza. In our recent session, children at our center in Egypt learned about “safe space” and “safe touch,” understanding the difference between what is acceptable and what is not. They discovered that their bodies belong to them, that they have the right to say no, and that no one; whether it is a stranger, a relative, or a teacher; no one has the right to cross those boundaries. These lessons empower children to protect themselves and reclaim a sense of safety.
