HOSNI: the energizer!
Hosni doesn’t care much about what the other children in his neighborhood say about the burns on his face. He is a carefree and sociable child, who loves nothing more than playing with his siblings, his schoolmates, and people in his local area.
Hosni is a very brave boy, because the burns on his face are very severe and cause him severe physical restrictions – particularly around his cheeks and mouth; making it difficult for him to smile. He was badly burnt when he was visiting a family friend with his uncle. A missile hit their home, and everyone was badly burnt and buried underneath the rubble. Hosni was eventually dragged out, but because their city was under siege, he was not able to get the treatment he so desperately needed.
The family now reside in Turkey. Hosni’s uncle is helping the family out by paying their rent and living costs. The family were referred to INARA by the Union of Medical Care and Relief Organizations (UOSSM). Upon a medical assessment by our team of doctors in Turkey, the child’s medical plan was set. Due to weakness in his skin tissue underneath his left eye, Hosni will have a skin graft. This will also take place around the burn tissue on his cheeks and around his mouth.
Hosni’s mother is very glad to see that her child is getting the treatment he so needs, and looks forward to the day where her son’s injuries no longer hold him back physically.
