Cinema for mental health

Syria

After years of living under constant bombings and the hardships of displacement, children and families have returned to Daraya, Syria. At our center in the city, we focus on supporting children’s mental health as part of our wider psychosocial activities.
We saw a real need for fun, creative spaces where children can express themselves, regain a sense of normalcy, and release the stress they’ve been carrying. That’s why we set up a small cinema at the center, where we screen animated films and “meaningful movies,” complete with snacks.
The children love it, and beyond the laughter and popcorn, it’s helping them prepare for a big transition: going back to school after years without stability or safety.
We are conducting this activity with generous support from Les Ecrans de la Paix.
